Introduction
First thing this morning, I found myself watching the video of one of the most meaningful moments of our lives — the day Rebecca and I stood together, looked into each other’s eyes, and promised forever. As I watched us saying “I do,” one thought immediately came to my mind: she truly does. She truly does love, she truly does sacrifice, she truly does stand by my side through every season of life.
The past couple of years have not been easy for Rebecca. Not even close. When we made our vows, I don’t think either of us fully understood everything that life would ask of us. We knew we were choosing each other, but we didn’t know the unexpected challenges, the difficult moments, and the emotional storms that would come our way.
Looking back now, it feels like we stepped into an adventure we never could have imagined. A journey filled with moments of uncertainty, fear, and countless reasons to feel overwhelmed. Yet somehow, through every twist and turn, Rebecca has continued to be the steady presence holding our family together.
She has been strong when things were difficult. She has remained calm when circumstances were frightening. She has continued to give love even when she was carrying her own worries and exhaustion. Through every challenge, she has never stopped showing kindness, compassion, and patience — not only toward me and Indiana, but also toward everyone around her.
That is what amazes me most about Rebecca. Her strength is not the loud kind that demands attention. It is the quiet strength that shows up every single day. It is found in the small acts of love, in the moments when she chooses hope instead of fear, and in the way she continues to care for others no matter what life places in front of her.
Watching that wedding video reminded me of just how blessed I am. The woman standing beside me that day was not only beautiful on the outside, but she carried a heart that was even more beautiful within. A heart filled with love, faith, courage, and an incredible ability to keep giving even during the hardest seasons.
This story is not just about hospitals, surgeries, or difficult moments. It is not only about the challenges our family has faced. It is about something much deeper. It is about the kind of heart that remains faithful when life becomes complicated. It is about a love that does not disappear when things get hard — but grows stronger.
Rebecca has shown me what commitment truly looks like. She has shown me that marriage is not only about celebrating the good days, but also about standing together through the unexpected ones. It is about holding on, supporting each other, and choosing love again and again.
So today, as I reflect on that moment when we said “I do,” I am reminded that those words were not just promises for an easy life. They were promises for every chapter — the joyful ones, the painful ones, and everything in between.
And through it all, Rebecca has proven something extraordinary: she has a truly special heart. A heart that loves deeply, gives endlessly, and continues to shine even in the middle of life’s greatest storms. I am grateful every day that I get to walk this journey with her.
