Introduction

Last night, just before sunset here at the hospital, knowing what day today was, we decided to take a quiet walk out through the big doors and into what they call the “healing garden.” It was a small moment, but one that carried so much meaning. After everything we have walked through these past weeks, after the fear, the uncertainty, the long hospital days, and the countless prayers, stepping outside for a few minutes felt like a gift.

The evening air was peaceful, and the soft light of the setting sun reminded us that even in the middle of difficult seasons, there are still beautiful moments waiting to be found. The hospital had become a place filled with machines, doctors, nurses, waiting rooms, and difficult conversations. But the healing garden was different. It was a small reminder that life is still full of color, hope, and little blessings.

As we walked through the garden, we picked some flowers for Mama. It wasn’t anything grand or complicated. Just a few flowers gathered with love and a heart full of gratitude. But sometimes the simplest gestures carry the deepest emotions. Those flowers were more than just something beautiful to bring back to her. They were a way of saying, “We are thinking of you. We love you. You are part of every step of this journey.”

Knowing what day today was made that moment even more special. It made us stop and appreciate the people who have loved us, supported us, and stood beside us through every challenge. Life has a way of teaching us what truly matters. The busy things that once seemed important become much smaller when you are sitting in a hospital room, praying for someone you love.

For so long, our focus has been on getting through each day, making decisions, trusting the doctors, and helping Indy heal. But last night, in that garden, we were reminded to slow down and notice the beauty around us. A sunset. A handful of flowers. A quiet walk together. A moment of peace.

Those are the memories that stay with us.

The past few weeks have not been easy. There have been moments of worry and exhaustion, moments when we didn’t know exactly what the next day would bring. But there have also been moments of incredible kindness, unexpected blessings, and reminders of how much love surrounds us.

The flowers we picked for Mama were a symbol of that love. They represented hope, family, and the strength that comes from standing together. Even in a hospital, even during a difficult chapter, there are still reasons to be thankful.

Tonight, we are grateful for the little things. We are grateful for healing, for answered prayers, for the people who continue to walk beside us, and for moments like this one that remind us that love is always present.

Sometimes healing doesn’t only happen through medicine. Sometimes it happens through a garden, a sunset, a few flowers, and the reminder that we are never walking this journey alone.
