Introduction

Our journey has recently led us to take another step of faith—one that required us to leave behind the farm and the life we had known for the last twenty-seven years. For nearly three decades, that farm was more than simply a place where we lived and worked. It was our home, our shelter, and the setting for countless memories. It was where we raised our family, celebrated joyful milestones, endured difficult seasons, and learned the value of patience, hard work, and perseverance. Every field, fence, tree, and worn path carried a story. Walking away from it felt like leaving behind a part of ourselves.

Yet deep within our hearts, we sensed that God was calling us to move forward. We did not have a detailed plan or a clear picture of what the future would look like. We only knew that it was time to trust Him again. So we packed our belongings, said goodbye to the familiar rhythms of farm life, and came to Texas for a season. We had no idea what was waiting for us. We did not know how long we would stay, where this new road might lead, or even how we were going to make a living.

From a practical point of view, the decision may have seemed unreasonable. Leaving behind security and familiarity is never easy, especially when the destination is filled with uncertainty. There were moments when fear whispered that we had made a mistake. Questions filled our minds. Would we find enough work? Would we be able to support ourselves? Would Texas ever feel like home? What would happen if our plans failed?

But faith rarely begins with complete answers. More often, it begins with a single step taken in obedience. We were reminded that we did not need to understand the entire journey before beginning it. We only needed enough courage to take the next step and enough trust to believe that God was already ahead of us, preparing the way.

Coming to Texas has stretched us in unexpected ways. It has required us to let go of old routines, familiar identities, and the comfort of knowing what each day would bring. At the same time, it has opened our hearts to new people, new opportunities, and new possibilities. We are learning that home is not always defined by a particular house, farm, or piece of land. Sometimes home is simply the place where God has asked us to be for the present season.

We still do not have every answer. There are days when the uncertainty feels heavy, and we wonder how everything will work out. But we have also experienced moments of provision, encouragement, and peace that remind us we are not walking alone. Doors have opened at the right time. People have offered kindness when we needed it most. Small signs of hope have appeared just when our faith was beginning to weaken.

This journey is teaching us that trusting God does not mean living without questions. It means continuing forward even when the questions remain unanswered. After twenty-seven years on the farm, we are beginning a new chapter—one we never expected to write. We do not know exactly what lies ahead, but we believe the same God who guided us through every previous season will remain faithful in this one. For now, Texas is where the road has led us, and we are choosing to walk it with open hands, grateful hearts, and faith in the One who already knows the ending.
