Introduction
The last couple of weeks have been filled with more prayer than our family has ever known. In the middle of appointments, difficult conversations, quiet fears, and preparations for Indy’s surgery, prayer has become the steady rhythm carrying us forward. It has been there in the early mornings before the house wakes, in the car on the way to another appointment, around the dinner table, and in the stillness of the night when sleep feels far away. We have prayed for wisdom for the doctors, strength for Indy, peace for our family, and courage to face whatever lies ahead. More than anything, we have prayed for a miracle.
Indy understands, in her own beautiful way, that God can do things no one else can do. She knows that miracles are possible, and she believes that truth with her whole heart. There is no hesitation in her faith. When she prays, she does not speak with fear or doubt. She simply asks God to heal her heart and take care of her. Hearing her prayers has humbled all of us. Adults often make faith complicated, weighing every possibility and preparing for every outcome, but Indy trusts with the purity of a child. She reminds us that prayer is not only about finding the perfect words. It is about bringing our hearts honestly before God and believing that He is listening.
We have all been praying alongside her. Family members, friends, neighbors, and people from many places have spoken her name in prayer. Some know Indy personally, while others have only heard her story, yet they have chosen to stand with us. Each message, phone call, and promise of prayer has felt like a hand reaching into our uncertainty and reminding us that we are not alone. The love surrounding Indy has been overwhelming, and it has given us strength on days when our own strength felt small.
Sunday morning was one of the most powerful moments of this journey. As we stood in church, our congregation of more than a thousand people prayed for Indy together. For a few sacred moments, an entire room turned its attention toward one little girl and asked God to protect her, heal her, and guide every person involved in her care. The sound of so many voices joined in prayer was deeply moving. It felt as though the whole church was helping carry the weight we had been holding as a family. Tears came easily, not only because we were afraid, but because we felt surrounded by extraordinary love.
We do not know exactly how God will answer these prayers. We hope with everything in us that the answer will be complete healing and an undeniable miracle. At the same time, we are asking for faith to trust Him through the surgery, the recovery, and every uncertain moment. Prayer has not erased all our fear, but it has changed how we carry it. It has replaced loneliness with community, panic with peace, and helplessness with hope.
As the day of surgery draws closer, we continue to pray. Indy continues to believe. And all of us are learning from her simple, courageous faith. Whatever happens next, we know that she is deeply loved, faithfully covered in prayer, and held in hands far greater than our own.
